Press Release

Pavel Tchelitchew: Nature Within & Without presents a selection of paintings, watercolors and drawings spanning the 1920s through the 1950s and offers a rare opportunity to view various phases of Tchelitchew's artistic development.

Always fundamental to Tchelitchew's art is an examination of the underlying structure of nature and the theme of metamorphosis. He was a fascinating individualist in his choice of subject and in his execution. As an artist, he stands alone, unable to be categorized. Tchelitchew's personal vision and

masterful draughtsmanship combine to create uniquely beautiful, powerful, and haunting statements. Major works such as Fallen Rider, Red Riding Hood, and several Interior-Scapes depicting luminous veined heads, will be on view.
