Known for his narrative murals and outstanding draftsmanship, John Biggers (American, 1924-2001) dedicated his work to the depiction of the human condition, “showing the spirit of man struggling above the mundane, above the material, above suffering.” Michael Rosenfeld Gallery, the exclusive representative of the Estate of John Biggers, is pleased to present its first solo exhibition featuring his work. paintings, drawings and two rare sculptures – all from the artist’s personal collection. They are the artist’s formative works and although the majority of these masterpieces were included in his 1995 traveling retrospective organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and Hampton University Museum, they are now available for purchase for the first time.
