Press Release

This is Michael Rosenfeld Gallery's first solo exhibition of the work of Charles Seliger. The show consists of densely colored, small format, abstract watercolors. Each painting is a meditative, intimate and highly complex investigation of nature.

Charles Seliger began exhibiting his art nearly fifty years ago. He first showed in 1942, had his initial one-man exhibition in 1945 at Peggy Guggenheim's Art of this Century gallery, and since then has regularly exhibited in the United States and Europe. In 1986, the Guggenheim Museum added

numerous Seligers to its collection and mounted a survey of his art. Undercurrents is Seliger's first exhibition in the United States since 1987 and the first show dedicated exclusively to his precise, lyrical watercolors in nearly a decade.

Michael Rosenfeld Gallery is the exclusive representative of Charles Seliger.
